Bullet Journal Basics: Health & Fitness Tracking

with No Comments

One of the most-requested tracker videos is finally here! For years I’ve been tracking my workouts and fitness goals, and this week I want to show how I’m using a bullet journal to keep track of everything. People have been asking about this for months, so I’m thrilled to finally release it for you.

Let me know in the video comments if you have a fitness or health goal you’re working on, would love to celebrate that!

You can see from the image that I’m using a bar chart to track a daily metric. This month I’m tracking calories burned with a goal of 500 each day. So I list the calories on the right of the daily bar graph, and the activities for the day inside the graph. This helps me see what actions I’m taking to achieve the result I want.

For those who can’t track calories (I do it on my Apple Watch), that’s totally ok! In fact I don’t think calories or weight are good things to track if you’re just starting (or re-starting) a fitness habit. Both calories and weight are results-based metrics, as in they are the result of the actions you’re taking throughout the day.

With that in mind, if you want to track something, I recommend actions instead of results. This will do way more to establish a habit of movement and ultimately lead to the results you want! Here are some examples of exercises you can do to take action rather than focus on results.

Burpees
Pushups
Squats (no weight)
Jumping Jacks
Pullups
Miles (run/walk/bike/swim/row)
Steps (need a tracker though)
Total minutes moved (with combined exercises)
