Atkins Diet. This is one of the most popular diets for weight loss. It was developed by Atkins back in 1960. The basic postulate of the Atkins diet says: it is not so important how much protein and fat you consume, as the fact how many carbohydrates you eat and, in general, you should calculate not proteins and fats, but the amount of carbs that you consume except fiber.

The Atkins diet has four phases. The first phase lasts about two weeks and, I daresay, it is the toughest. During the first phase, people lose about 4 kg of weight. In the first phase, we reduce the intake of carbohydrates to 20 g per day, and most of them should be vegetables. Thus, we begin to consume a lot of protein in the form of meat, fish, poultry, as well as eggs, cheese and other dairy products, and we completely exclude everything that contains flour, all cereal and sweet products. And, of course, we must give up alcohol and drink at least a couple of liters of water per day. In addition, in the first phase, we completely exclude any nuts. But in the second phase, we gradually include nuts.
