How to develop Healthy Eating Habits in Children | Dr. V S Ravindran | The Question Slip 6

with No Comments

Poor eating habit in children is a major concerns of parents. Dr. Ravindran discusses eating habits in children. He suggests that if a child is physically active then the parents need not run after him/her with food. The parents should try to prepare something at home that the child enjoys eating. It is a good idea to have at least one meal in a day together as a family, provided it is not eaten in front of the TV. Meal time should be a time to talk with one another. It is also important that the kids see their parents relishing home cooked food. Parents should also not totally ban kids from eating outside food, but at the same time they should not have a lot of junk food handy at home. Parents should avoid pestering the child to eat, as this may lead to the child not eating even the food that he/she likes just to spite.
